Expedia is one of the world largest and most well-known online travel agencies. Similar to the way travel agencies operate, Expedia helps you in all the areas of your trip for which you might need help – airfare, hotel, and everything in between. Furthermore, Expedia can gather all the information needed to help you in just a few seconds, which is much different from travel agencies where an agent must to a whole lot of leg work. They can tell you the best rates for your trip just as soon as you supply them with the information they need.
However, there is one limit on Expedia: they cannot go that extra mile for you that a good travel agent would. For instance, Expedia needs the dates of your intended departure and return when they ask for information about your trip. What Expedia will do once you input this information is search for the best rates were you to fly on those days. But even though you might find a cheaper flight a day earlier or a day later (after all, it is cheaper to fly mid-week, instead of on weekends), Expedia will not remind you of this. Check out the prices for a few different dates when you input your information. If you are flexible on departure date and return date, this can save you a good bit of money. Expedia also will not remind you that you can fly into a different airport than the one you are thinking of and perhaps save extra money. For instance, you might try flying into Providence, Rhode Island or Manchester, New Hampshire instead of flying directly into Boston; this is especially the case if you are already planning on renting a car as part of your trip. Same thing goes for a destination like Los Angeles, where you could fly into Ontario, California instead, or New York City, where you could fly into Newark, New Jersey. Expedia will not take these extra steps for you, so you will have to take them yourself. But once you find the best rates, on the best days, Expedia will take care of the rest! Just like a good travel agent, you are left with no need to book each portion of your trip through each different source. All you have to do is pay, and after that Expedia will take over, taking care of everything except the actual travel!Booking Your Trip Through Expedia
